City gallery (Open Call)

The open call is closed. Thank you for the numerous submissions!

From 12.9-6.10 2024, display cases, shop windows, showcases and empty shops in St. Pölten city centre will be artistically transformed.

If you wander through St. Pölten, you will repeatedly come across showcases, empty shops and shop windows that no longer have a function. Displays bear witness to a past that seems to stand still and untouched by the present.

Together with St. Pölten artists, Tangente wants to fill these empty spaces with new life and showcase their great potential. The approaches are diverse: the palette ranges from visual art to works with text, photos, sound or video. The public space becomes a platform for presentation, expression and communication.

Tangente invites you to create art on and with the festival themes of ecology, remembrance and democracy, to make statements, design smaller and larger spaces and thus become visible.

The results will be on display in September during the third highlight of Tangente.

Each of these showcases is intended to be an invitation to get to know the city and its people better - or to explore completely new corners of St. Pölten.

A maximum budget (fee + production costs) of €2,500 is available for each item.
