Biography

Markus Selg (1974, Singen) is a visual artist, set designer, filmmaker and musician. Since 2001 he has been the publisher of Possible Press, a publishing house for artists' publications. He explores the dynamics between archaic myth and computer technologies in the form of digital painting, sculpture, immersive installations, theatre and VR. He has presented numerous exhibitions, including the science fiction exhibition trilogy ‘Amnesia’, ‘ The Chronicle’, ‘The Testament’ in Berlin and Cologne (2004-2005), his feature film ‘The Eternal Face’, for which he himself was responsible for the camera, direction, set design and editing (2012) and ‘Primitive Date’ in Haarlem (2015). For ‘Ultraworld’ at the Volksbühne Berlin, he received the Faust Prize 2020 for best stage design. In 2016, he conceived the multimedia piece ‘MEDEA.MATRIX’ for the Ruhrtriennale together with director Susanne Kennedy. In 2019, they presented their second collaboration at the Volksbühne Berlin with the installative performance ‘Coming Society’.
