Hèctor Parra
Biography
Hèctor Parra (1976, Barcelona) studied composition in Geneva and Paris and currently teaches composition at the Research Institute for Acoustics/Music at the Pompidou Center in Paris (IRCAM). His compositions have been performed by numerous famous orchestras and ensembles, including the Ensemble Intercontemporain, Klangforum Wien and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. He has received assignments from the French government, the Akademie der Künste Berlin and the Musée du Louvre, among others. Numerous works have also been premiered at the Lucerne Festival, the San Francisco International Arts Festival, the Philharmonie de Paris, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Vienna Konzerthaus. He has also been awarded numerous prizes, including the Ernst von Siemens Composition Prize in 2011, the Donald Aird Memorial Prize of San Francisco in 2007, the Tremplin Prize of the Ensemble Interconemporain in 2005 and the Prize of the National Institute for Performing Arts and Music of Spain in 2002.
