Cana Bilir-Meier
Biography
Cana Bilir-Meier (1986, Munich) works as a filmmaker and artist as well as in art and cultural education projects. Bilir-Meier studied Art Education as well as Art and Digital Media at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Her films, texts, drawings and performances are dedicated to the resistant and invisible aspects of migrant realities and biographies from an often personal perspective. As the granddaughter of Turkish immigrants, the artist approaches universal narratives and collective memories. Her works have been shown at Tensta Konsthall (Stockholm), Kunsthalle Wien and the Diagonale, among others. In 2016, she was awarded the Birgit Jürgenssen Prize.
